The book of Revelation is one of those that arouses the most interest in Christians and non-Christians. His descriptions, characters and events have led various authors, philosophers, filmmakers and theologians, like anyone, to divagate and formulate conclusions. Many of these formulations and concepts arise from misinformed or prejudiced readings, which distort what we find in this book.
In that
sense, this short book entitled "A Companion to the Book Of
Revelation" by David L. Mathewson, helps us navigate through the book of
Revelation without falling into conclusions outside the context of the book.
The book is divided into eight chapters, the first of which deals with
introductory matters to the book of Revelation. From chapter two to chapter
seven, we find the entire "narrative / theological framework" of the
book of Revelation, written in a pleasant and clear way. Finally, we find a
very important chapter, in which the author shows us the relevance that the
book of Revelation has for us. What I liked about this book is that at the end
of each chapter, we find some questions to ponder, which allows us to reinforce
the content we have read.
It is
possible that some ideas you have about the book of Revelation will be shaken,
but it is important that we know in greater depth what the author writes. As
Dr. Mathewson writes: "The main goal of Revelation is to transform the
lives of its hearers / readers, not to predict a future sequence of
events."
Do you want
an accessible and at the same time deep guide to the book of Revelation? This
is the book.
I received this book for free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review for the book.
