Old Testament literature seems distant and in some sections somewhat mysterious. Particularly the writings of the prophets, leave us with some questions, is there any way we can leverage our reading more about these writings? Part of our problem is that we have not considered some key principles of Old Testament reading.
Dr. Gentry writes: "A central problem in the Christian church, especially during the
last one hundred years, is that we have been reading the Gospels
of the New Testament, the narratives of the Old Testament and
the book of Acts, and the Hebrew prophets of the Old Testament
and the New Testament (e.g., Revelation), including apocalyptic
prophecies, exactly the same way we read Romans."
So, this book offers us some characteristics or features that will allow us to understand better. The author begins to describe the covenant as a central theme, future events, symbols, and other issues that will help us not only read more clearly, but also that we will be able to interconnect the narrative and principles of these books.
