I am a follower of Naselli's blog and I love the resources he shares. I have read his book "Consciousness", which was and is an excellent book. But when I saw this book, I recognized that it is and will be a great tool for every New Testament student. The structure of the book is very good, Naselli offers a pleasant, serious and academic reading (but accessible to any christian). In addition, at the end of each chapter we find bibliographies to further advance our study, as some examples that help us to appropriate more of the content.

But who is the author?
Andy Naselli (PhD, Bob Jones University; PhD, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) is Assistant Professor of New Testament and Theology at Bethlehem College & Seminary in Minneapolis and an elder of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He blogs at AndyNaselli.com, and you can follow him on Twitter @AndyNaselli.

What is this book about?
The book covers twelve steps in the exegetical and theological process. The first eight chapters cover the following areas:
  • Genre
  • Textual Criticism
  • Translation
  • Greek Grammar
  • Argument Diagram
  • Historical-Cultural Context
  • Literary Context
  • Word Studies
The other chapters cover:
  • Biblical Theology,
  • Historical Theology,
  • Systematic Theology,
  • Practical Theology
Naselli first approaches the exegetical process, the study of the biblical text. Using all available tools. Possibly some reader does not have knowledge of Greek, but that will not be an obstacle to learn about the study of words or textual criticism. After the study of the biblical text, we find what develops from the study. Biblical theology, helps us to see how the text is related to the whole book and the canon of the New Testament. Going through the historical development interpretive of the text, doctrines derived in a systematic way and the application of this text to personal life and to the church.

No doubt this book will be a great contribution to the students of the Bible. I dream that someday this book may be available in Spanish.

Thanks to P & R Publishing, for the copy of the book to review.
